Mounting pressure on cost is driving profound structural change across healthcare. These changes demand new strategic and operational skills from healthcare management. If they are going to succeed in the new healthcare millennium, delivery organizations will need to redefine key roles, upgrade staff capabilities, and sustain new behaviors.

Senior Consultant Dr. Jill Sackman and Gundersen Health System’s Director of Organizational Development Janine Luz presented their session, Managing Variation in Cost and Quality at ACHE Congress in Chicago and discussed how they redefined the Gundersen leadership infrastructure to lower cost and improve quality.  They also outlined essential concepts and tools needed for building a successful leadership infrastructure.
