Managing Partner Michael Abrams spoke with AIS Health about the recent Senate report on Medicare Advantage prior authorization denials for post-acute care and its implications on future legislation.

In response to the report, Abrams said:

That is very simply what is wrong with our entire health care system — that the outcome and the experiences of the patient don’t count for much. In this situation, it counts for so little that it can be ignored in its entirety.

He also noted that although increasing PA reform legislation at the state level is possible, having different versions of PA rules state to state would be resource-intensive.
