Where would we be if the so-called industry experts had been right — that it really would take five years to get to a vaccine? Historically, that has been typical, and the resulting vaccines have often only been 40% effective. Instead of seeing the pandemic in the rearview mirror, we would be one year into a five-year quest to a solution for Covid-19. That we are not looking at this frightening possibility is a tribute to science and the dedication of industry researchers as well as the investment capital that has largely funded their discoveries.
